Walking on Sunshine: Sunscreen Health

Katrina and the Waves released their hit Walking on Sunshine in 1985. It was meant to be an optimistic song, which took on a new meaning in 2005 when Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast.

Huge garage sale weekend, June 6-7-8

This may be the biggest garage sale weekend in Icon history. Over 50 garage sales are listed on our Google map and more are in our email inbox this morning (Wednesday). 

So far, sales are located in Ada, Bluffton, Pandora (community event) and Jenera (community event).

The Icon offers FREE garage sale ads. If you have a sale that is at your home but you are a home-based business or the event is an estate sale, the ad is $1/day, minimum $10.

1861 Wine Lounge announces new hours, new patio

New hours for 1861 Wine Lounge and the opening of patio space have been announced by owners Mike and Mary Burris. The business is now open:

Thursday, 3:00-8:00 p.m.
Friday, 3:00-10:00 p.m.
Saturday, 12:00-10:00 p.m.

The wine lounge is located at 115 N Main St, Bluffton.

OB hospitalist program announced by BVHS

Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) has a new obstetric hospitalist program in which one of four physicians is now present at Blanchard Valley Hospital 24 hours a day, seven days per week to care for women delivering babies.

Dr. Brittany Berens, Dr. Dawn Hochstettler, Dr. Kim Perkins, and Dr. Kate Sanford are experienced physicians specializing in obstetrics and gynecology, focusing solely on labor and delivery at Blanchard Valley Hospital.

BEVS youth soccer camp June 25-28

A youth soccer camp will be held by the Bluffton Exempted Village Schools for boys and girls entering grades 1-8 in fall 2024. It is staffed by BHS boy and girl teams' coaches and players.
