The Bluffton High School girls' soccer team lost a tough match on Sept. 2 to Van Buren.

Bluffton hosted the Van Buren Knights. Approximately 3 minutes into the game Van Buren shot its first goal of many. Soon the score was 3-0.

Dulle had a left-footed shot close to half time for Bluffton. Her shot was assisted by Jill Steinmetz.

Greg Denecker released first day of school enrollment information to The Icon. The total enrollment on the first day of the 2010-11 school year on Aug. 30 was 1,144 students.

The Bluffton Schools will hold a district-wide open house on Monday, Sept 13. The elementary school will be open from 6 to 7 p.m., the middle school from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., and the high school from 7 to 8 p.m.

Several community organizations will have booths set-up in the elementary gymnasium and information will be available on ways to provide support to the school and community.

Dr. James M. Harder, president of Bluffton University, will speak at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, in Founders Hall, at the annual President's Forum, which is part of Bluffton's weekly Forum series. Forum is free and open to the public.

As the new school year gets under way, Harder will highlight a number of ways that Bluffton is moving forward, including new academic program development and facilities improvements.

He will also provide a progress report on plans for a new Health and Fitness Education Center, the next facility in the university's master plan.
