Cross-cultural experiences told in Forum
Bluffton University students share cross-cultural experiences
Bluffton University students who participated in cross-cultural experiences during the 2008-09 academic year will share those experiences with the public at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, in Founders Hall, as part of Bluffton University's weekly forum series. The events are free and open to the public.
In the morning session students will share about their experiences in Botswana, China, Chicago, Ill., and Los Angeles, Calif. In the evening session, those who went to New York City, Trinidad and Tobago and San Antonio, Texas will present.
More than 100 students went on cross-cultural experiences during May and June 2009. Each year, Bluffton students have the option of studying abroad for a semester or spending two to three weeks in May and June exploring a different culture in the United States or a foreign country.
The opportunities provide students with a chance to serve others within a new or different culture. Students gain widened perspectives, new insights and an increased respect for community.
The Forum presentation is a chance for other Bluffton students to preview what a cross-cultural experience at Bluffton has to offer.
