Edith Meyer 1929-2011
Edith Donna Dee Meyer, 82, of Bluffton died at 9:20 a.m. on Wednesday,
Nov. 30, 2011 at The Heritage. She was born May 10, 1929, in
Spencerville to Pearl Daniel and Olga Wyona (Robey) Harter, who preceded
her in death. On April 30,1947, she married Donald Joseph Meyer, who died
on Feb. 1, 2000.
Mrs. Meyer served for many years as a bus driver for Cory-Rawson Schools. She
then was a Rural Mail Carrier and eventually retired from the Postal
Service. Edith was proud of her farming heritage. She was born and raised
on a farm and lived her adult life as the wife of a farmer.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Dennis (Marcia S.) Caudle of Austin,
Texas; Mrs. David (Dolores A.) Verbonitz of Tulsa, Okla.; three sons, Robert E.
(Joanne) of Findlay; D. Richard (Shelly) of Lexington, Ky.; Thomas E.
(Christine) of Rawson; 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Princess Brunelli and Dessie
Huston; and three brothers, Chester D. Harter, Nelson F. Harter, and
Delbert P. Harter.
Shewas a member of the National Rural Postal Carriers Association and
the Cory-Rawson Caf~A(c) Coffee Club.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 5, at St.
Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, downtown, with a reception to
follow immediately at the K of C Hall.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Van Wert. Visitation will be from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4,
at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay. Memorials may be made to the
American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be made via
