Robert E. Steiner 1937-2012
Robert Eugene Steiner, 74, formerly of Bluffton, died on Jan. 4, 2012, in Phoenix, Ariz. He was born on Jan. 20, 1937, to Wilford and Mabel Herr Steiner, who preceded him in death.
He was married to Sharon Black, who is deceased and survived by two children, Shaunna Sibbons and Andrea (Cory) Axness and five grandchildren.
He later married Coleen Steiner who survives. He is also survived by one brother, Bill (Joan) Steiner, of Bluffton.
Mr. Steiner graduated from Bluffton High School and Bluffton University. After graduation he worked in various fields such as accounting, insurance, retail and farming. He retired as an agriculture inspector for the State of Arizona.
He continued his love for music by singing in various choirs and playing trombone in several bands.
A memorial service was held Jan. 8, at First Mennonite Church, Phoenix, where he was an active member. He served on the church board and attended various Mennonite conferences.
Graveside services will be held this summer and burial will be at Ebenezer Mennonite Church Cemetery. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Bluffton University or the charity of your choice.
