Bernice Deerhake Gibson 1919-2012
Bernice Deerhake Gibson, 93, of Lima died at 7:05 p.m. Jan. 25, 2012 at Lima Manor. She was born Jan. 25, 1919, in Bluffton to Albert and Bertha Amstutz Matter.
On July 14, 1941, she married Robert Deerhake and he preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 1977. In 1982 she married Robert Gibson and they were later divorced.
Bernice retired from Triplett Corp. Bluffton. She was a 1936 graduate of Bluffton High School.
Survivors include a son, Don (Lila) Deerhake of Columbus Grove, three grandchildren, Rachelle (John) Patterson of Bluffton, Christine Deerhake of Jackson Center, Scott (Alina) Deerhake of Maryville, Tenn., two great grandsons, John Patterson Jr. and Jacob Patterson, and two great great grandchildren, J.J and Alana Patterson.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Rolland Matter and three sisters, Cleora Nique, Fairy Stephens and Ruth Armbrecht.
Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Bluffton. Rev. Tom Dearth will officiate.
Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bluffton. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International. Online condolences may be expressed at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
