Lydia Guagenti, who has just committed to the Ohio State University, had a big day on Sunday at the University of Findlay's high school Oiler Invite track meet.
She cleared 5-07.00 in the high jump to take first with her best indoor jump ever. She beat the second place finisher by 3 inches. This height places her in the top 15 in the country so far in 2012 (according to milesplit.com) and was just short of her outdoor PR of 5-08.00. The height also earned her the rank of Mile Split US First Team Elite.
Guagenti teamed with Jill Steinmetz, Julie Althaus, and Hannah Chappell-Dick to win the 4x400m relay in a blazing 4:19.92, ranking them 6th so far in the state, all divisions.
Chappell-Dick picked up a win of her own, covering half a mile in 2:22.18, a big indoor PR. She also placed 11th in the 55m dash with a time of 7.96.
Lucas Harnish also ran the 800m. Without a seed time, he was not placed in the fastest heat. He came back to win his heat, however, and place 4th overall with an indoor PR of 2:07.94.
Worth noting is D' Angelo Sharpley, a DI athlete, who won that race in an unbelievable 1:57.74.
Logan Steingass competed for the Pirates as well, running a PR of 25.27 to place 14th in the 200m dash. He also placed 11th in the 400m with a time of 56.11 seconds.
Kayla Edgington represented the Lady Pirates in the throwing events, placing 24th and heaving the shot put 27-05.
