University Spiritual Life Week focuses on "Extending family tree"
Bluffton University will hold its annual spring Spiritual Life Week (SLW), Feb. 7-11. The theme for the week is "Extend Your Family Tree."
Spiritual Life Week is a time, set aside for a week each semester, for the campus to focus on the Christian life. Students play a major role in planning activities that help strengthen growth and faithfulness in a relationship with God. The week includes guest speakers and special times of worship. SLW events are free and open to the public.
Campus pastor, Stephen "Tig" Intagliata said, "Building community is something that's important to us here at Bluffton. We invite you to join us as we expand our family tree by building relationships with people who may be different from us in some ways, but who are all part of God's family. The week will be filled with different kinds of music and stories from around the world."
The week will kick off with a worship service, 4 p.m. Feb. 7 in Bob's Place in Marbeck Center. Monday evening at 9:30 p.m., a SLW tradition, Battle of the Airbands, will be held in Bob's Place. Students form air band groups and perform.
Tuesday, guest speakers Jonathan Larson and Dorothy Harding will share "Family in a Jesus Key," at 11 a.m. Feb. 9 in Founders Hall as part of Bluffton University's Forum series.
"Kinship Concert: A Musical Feast: Rap and Beyond..." will be the featured event for SLW. The concert will feature guest speakers Larson and Harding, as well as rappers Li'l Curtis and LaDell Harding. The concert will be held at 9 p.m. in Bob's Place.
Thursday's chapel service will conclude the week. Earnest Glover will share "The New Kinship: Jesus' take on family," looking at Mark 3:31-35. A family style dinner will be held that evening. Please pre-register for the dinner by contacting SLW coordinator Chalsi Eastman at [email protected].
