James K. Warren 1938-2010
James K. Warren, 71, Bluffton, died at 2:08 a.m., Jan. 30, 2010, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. He was born July 12, 1938, in Orange Township, Hancock County, to Clyde and Eulalia McCormick Warren. On June 3, 1960, he married Jeanette James and she survives.
Mr. Warren was a life-long farmer and former auctioneer. He was a member of the Bluffton Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder. He also served on boards of the Blanchard Valley Farmers Cooperative and the Hancock County Soil and Water Conservation District.
He was a graduate of Cory-Rawson High School and Ohio State University.
In addition to his wife, survivors are brothers, John (Pat) Warren, Kenton; Robert (Joan) Warren, Terra Haute, Ind.; and Richard (Ann) Warren, Lima; daughters, Cynthia (Timothy) Woodward, Maplewood; Christine (Gary) Freed, Jenera; son-in-law, Bryan Champion, Perry; step-sisters Jane (Tom Bickel), Findlay; and Barb VanDriest, Findlay; foster son, Curtis (Carol) Champion, Bellefontaine; grandsons Lucas Woodward, Kyle Woodward, Jared Champion, Anthony Freed and Dustin Freed; granddaughters Cara Champion, Dani Champion and Jenna Champion.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Laureen Champion and stepmother, Bernadine Warren.
A funeral service is at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at the Bluffton Presbyterian Church. Rev. Lou VanderNaald, will officiate. Visitation is Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral Home, Bluffton. Burial is in Thompson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may go to the Bluffton Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Church Assistance to Haiti or Habitat for Humanity.
