In recognition of Police Memorial Week, the Bluffton Police Department invites the public to attend a first-of-its kind event in Bluffton.
According to Rick Skiliter, police chief, the department will hold a memorial service followed by an open house of the police department. The event, open to the public, will follow the 8 p.m. Bluffton council meeting Monday, May 14.
"We recently discovered that Bluffton has experienced the line of duty loss of two police officers in the 1920s. As a part of the memorial service, a permanent display will be unveiled so the memories of the fallen police officers no longer go unrecognized and forgotten," Skilliter told The Icon.
The police floor will be open for public tour following the serivce as will police equipment be on display. Light refreshements will be served.
