Bluffton Relay for Life sets 2013 event date; plans kickoff meeting in October

It's 11 months away, but the Bluffton Relay for Life has officially started planning its 2013 event. Next year's Relay is Friday and Saturday, June 21-22 at Salzman Stadium, Bluffton University.

"We're fortunate to have the tremendous support of families and businesses in the community, and our committee and teams worked very hard over the course of this past year to ensure not only a great event but an opportunity to celebrate with our local cancer survivors and their families," Adam Blevins of the American Cancer Society, told The Icon.
Blevins provided several bits on information about 2013.

On Sept. 1, 2012, Bluffton's website www.RelayForLife.org/Bluffton was updated and began showing information about next year's event. Also, anyone interested in signing up to participate by starting a team, joining a team or local survivors wishing to register to walk during our opening ceremony can officially register now.
Bluffton's Relay first meeting is Thursday, Oct. 4. The planning committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. and teams will meet at 6:30 p.m. The meeting location and additional details will be announced soon.
Jesse Purcell, an Income Development Representative with the American Cancer Society (ACS) will be introduced at the October meeting. She will be the staff partner with the Bluffton Relay in 2012.
She has previously worked with the Relay For Life events in Van Wert County, Auglaize County and Mercer County and is currently working on the new Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk that will take place on Sept. 22 at the University of Northwestern Ohio.
