A little winter music Feb. 28 in Yoder Recital Hall
The Bluffton University Music Department will present the annual Winter Choral Concert on Sunday, Feb. 28 at 2:30 p.m. in Yoder Recital Hall. General admission tickets are required. Contact 419-358-3239 or [email protected] for ticket information.
Three choral groups will perform, Accent!, Bluffton's all male chorus directed by Dr. David Sawatzsky and accompanied by Allison Ringold; Bel Canto, Bluffton's all female chorus and Camerata Singers both directed by Judy Hall and accompanied by Anna Stembler-Smith.
Bel Canto will open the concert and will be followed by Accent!. There will be a brief intermission during which an offering will be taken for music scholarships, and Camerata Singers will conclude the event. Each group will sing four pieces.
Bel Canto's performance will feature senior Alycia Althaus, from Findlay, Ohio, who will sing a solo in the song "Music Spread Thy Voice". Accent! will have soloists in three of their pieces; Jonathan Luginbill, a first-year student from Bluffton, Ohio, in "Ave Maris Stella", Matt Weaver, a junior from Millersburg, Ohio, in "Magnificat", and Brian Timpe, a junior from Swanton, Ohio, in "Listen to the Lamb".
Camerata Singers students Sarah Diller, a junior from Bluffton, Ohio and sophomores Tim Yoder, from Dalton, Ohio and Lance McPherson from Findlay, Ohio, will be the featured trio in the song "The Heavens are Telling", and junior Laurel Baker, from Bradner, Ohio will perform a solo during "Wash Me Thoroughly".
