Library welcomes former professor’s photographs

Dr. Mary Ann Sullivan is a prolific photographer as well as a professor emerita of English and art history at Bluffton University, where she taught from 1972-2006.

An exhibit of her photographs of library architecture is joining the permanent collection in Bluffton’s Musselman Library, which will mark the donation with a reception with Sullivan from 2 p.m.- 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10.

The exhibit features several groups of photographs of libraries, including traditional and modern interiors, modern exteriors and design elements. Printed by Andreas Baumgartner, an assistant professor of art, the photographs are from Sullivan’s Digital Imaging Project, an award-winning art and architecture resource with more than 19,000 images.

Accompanying the exhibit during the reception will be a display of some of the many textbooks and art history books that include photographs by Sullivan.
