Former Beaverdam-Richland Township Fire Chief Rick Swisher funeral service Thursday
Richard "Rick" L. Swisher Jr., 55, of Beaverdam died at 12:03 p.m. Feb. 10, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 25, 1957, in Findlay to Richard and Sharon (Osborn) Swisher Sr. who survive in Beaverdam.
He had been married to Kathy (Jones) Swisher. Rick was employed by Cardinal Bus Sales, Lima. He had been the fire chief of Beaverdam-Richland Fire Department from 1985 to 2000. He was an Eagle Scout. He was a 1975 graduate from Bluffton High School.
Survivors also include a son Steve (Sarah) Swisher of Beaverdam; a daughter Steph (Josh) Schlosser of Lima; four grandchildren Noah Swisher, Destiny Schlosser, Sierra Schlosser, Avery Schlosser; four brothers Randy (Kathie) Swisher of Versailles, Bill (Nancy) Swisher of Bluffton; Bob Swisher of Beaverdam; Jon (Jody) Swisher of Bluffton; four nieces; four nephews and his cat Burger.
Services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton. Rev. Sam Wireman officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Beaverdam.
Friends and family may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
