Colloquium focus on travels to Tibet
Phil Sugden, assistant professor of art, will present "Pages from the Manual on Deconstructing God" at Friday Colloquium at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 19, in Stutzman Lecture Hall in Centennial Hall. Colloquium is free and open to the public.
The inspiration for Sugden's art exhibit came from reading, formal meditation and his many travels to Tibet and the Himalayas. Sugden also drew inspiration from his time spent in Tibetan monasteries.
The layout of his exhibit will feature an 11-foot circle with 21 pages of original artwork done on handmade paper from the Himalayas. The viewer of the exhibit will walk into the circle to see the imagery in the drawings.
Sugden's colloquium presentation will feature a PowerPoint presentation containing nine slides of artwork from the exhibit and pictures from his travels to Tibet that inspired the exhibit.
Bluffton University's Friday Colloquium series provides faculty members with an opportunity to share their research and receive feedback from a group of their peers.
