Middle school students earn several honors at science and engineering fair
On March 6, seven Bluffton Middle School students competed at the Northwest Ohio Science and Engineering Fair in Archbold, Ohio. The seven students are Courtney Barnett, Jonah Bourassa, Josh Bracy, Landon Cluts, Andrew Hoff, Audrey Marshall and Samantha Rhonemus.
There were 107 students representing northwest Ohio competing for awards in numerous categories and from a variety of sponsors.
"All of these students put many, many hours into their projects and several were recipients of cash and prizes,"according to Scott Hoff.
Courtney Barnett received the third place award for Behavioral Science projects and was ranked 4th overall (tie) of the 50+ middle school projects that were displayed.
Jonah Bourassa was the 2nd place recipient for Materials Science and Bioengineering projects.
Josh Bracy was ranked 3rd in the Physics category.
Landon Cluts earned 2nd place in the Physics category, was ranked 3rd best overall of the 50+ projects displayed, and received a U.S. Navy/Marine Award.
Andrew Hoff received the 1st place award in the Physics category, was ranked 4th overall (tie) of the 50+ middle school projects, and received the Retired Teachers of Henry County Award for Best Presentation (oral, written, visual).
"All of these Bluffton students are looking forward to presenting their projects again next weekend at the District Science Fair at Ohio Northern University, with the hopes of qualifying for State Science Day in May 2010," said Hoff.
