Historic photos theme of Swiss Society March 21 program
"Value of Photographs as Historic Documents" heads the program of Swiss Community Historical Society of Pandora and Bluffton at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 21, in the Patio Room of Maple Crest Senior Living Village, Bluffton.
Lisa Wood, Curator for Visual Resources at the Ohio Historical Society at Columbus, will discuss identification of historic photographs; care and handling of historic photographs; and ways to use photographs for research, exhibits and programs.
Items from the Swiss Society's photograph collection will also be displayed for attendees to view. Leaders of the Swiss Society hope to receive additional information views can offer about persons, dates, places, and occasions in those pictures. Refreshments will be served.
Wood, although Curator for Visual Resources at OHS for the past four years, has been employed at OHS since 1997. She earned her bachelor's degree in history and public administration at Ohio University and her master's degree of library and information science from Kent State University.
Her appearance here is the latest in a series of annual spring programs on historical topics, last year's having emphasized clothing and textiles of earlier generations.
Other ongoing projects of Swiss Community Historical Society are the restoration of its 1843 Swiss farmstead, summer kitchen, and outbuildings. Tours are available to the public on selected days and by appointment.
