Second grader loves math, science, and reading...15 minutes with Kate Pannabecker
The Icon staff recently spent a sunny, cold Sunday afternoon with Kate Pannabecker, 8-year-old daughter of Tim and Jo Pannabecker.
What grade are you in and who is your teacher?
Second grade, Mrs. Fry
What are your favorite subjects in school?
Science, math, and reading.
Least favorite?
Writing. It's hard.
Tell us about your spelling tests.
We have to know 15 words. Mia (her younger sister) has to know 10. We have to write three sentences. We have a bonus word, like "atmosphere."
What are some of the books you've read recently?
All about Abe Lincoln; The Haunted Hotel
Do you have a favorite food?
Chinese dumplings, those little round dough things that you fill and fold in half. I can use chopsticks if there is something to hold them together. My grandfather was born in China, when the war was going on.
Who is your piano teacher?
Deb Niswander
I fell out of a tree when I was two and broke my arm. I had to get it X-rayed. It looked weird.
Tred. (Turquoise and red.)
A round off with one hand.
Oh, that's hard. Despicable Me II, because it's funny and I like the minions. Harry Potter, Percy Jackson I and II.
