Annual senior citizens garage sale Feb. 27 and 28
The Bluffton Senior Center will break tradition by holding its annual garage sale a few months earlier than usual. This year the sale will be held from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Fridayk, Feb. 27, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28.
The change in date is to coincide with the S.H.A.N.N.O.N. Service Clubs Annual Community Garage/Craft Sale and Chicken BBQ. “Every year people looking for the S.H.A.N.N.O.N. sale at The Centre stop at the Senior Center so we have decided to take advantage of the confusion,” states Tonya Meyer, Director of the Bluffton Senior Center. The community garage sale runs from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Friday. and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday The Centre, 601 N. St. The Senior Center has decided to keep its traditional hours which are different from the community sale so that those working one sale have time to visit the other.
The Bluffton Senior Center Garage Sale is made up of donated items from its members. Senior Citizens are often in a state of downsizing - from a house to an apartment, condo to assisted living, etc. The Senior Center is one place where they can pass on possessions and it helps fund the Senior Center. The Senior Center does not take clothing or shoes but the sale always has plenty of kitchen gadgets, collectables, decorations, tools, books, puzzles, music and movies. This year there are many toys and some furniture as well.
Any items remaining at the end of the sale will be available at half price Monday, March 2 until the volunteers clean up the Senior Center for the afternoon activities.
