Shell named HCAC Pitcher of the Week
March 9, 2015
BLUFFTON, Ohio - Senior Chloe Shell (Covington) capped a great opening week in Florida by being named the Heartland Conference Pitcher of the Week after leading the Beavers to a solid 7-3 start. It marks the third consecutive year that Shell has been named Player of the Week for her work in the Sunshine State!
Shell wrapped up the week with a miniscule 0.69 ERA and a 2-1 mark, with her only loss a 1-0 setback thanks to an unearned run against St. John Fisher. She tossed 20.1 innings with 13 strikeouts and just four walks. Shell
limited opponents to a .155 batting average in four starts, including two complete games.
Shell had an outstanding day against the Milwaukee School of Engineering when she went all 6.0 innings and allowed only one paltry hit against the Raiders. She fanned five and issued just one free pass, needing only 78 pitches to get it done.
Including the games from last Sunday, March 1, Shell has fashioned a sparkling 0.55 ERA (2nd in the HCAC) and 15 strikeouts (3rd in the HCAC) in 25.1 innings of work. She has fired 15 strikeouts and walked just five batters while holding opponents to a .148 OBA.
The Beavers will face Otterbein in their home opener on Thursday, March 12 at 3:30 p.m. weather permitting. Come out and support your Beavers!
