Chappell-Dick looking to qualify for national meet
Bluffton High School grad Hannah Chappell-Dick ran in the 400m, trying to hone her sprinting as she looks to qualify for the national meet in a middle distance event. She is a junior at Eastern Mennonite University, Harrisonburg, Va.
She ended up breaking the school record in the 400m, racing to a finish of 57.94. It was her best time by more than second and knocked off Lorenda Abbott's record of 58.08 from 1999.
Chappell-Dick is still second in the nation in the 800m (2:09.37) and eighth in the 1500m (4:30.97). With the NCAA taking the top 22 women to the national meet, EMU's star will likely have to decide whether to run in just one event or both at nationals.
