University offers variety of summer math workshops
Bluffton University will offer six summer mathematics workshops for middle school and high school teachers.
The 27th annual, and final, workshops hosted by adjunct faculty member Duane Bollenbacher are all three-day sessions, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. Cost per workshop is $150 if it is for Local Professional Development Committee credit, or $300 for graduate workshop credit. Lunches are included; other meals and housing are available.
Bollenbacher, a high school math teacher for 30 years and a university instructor for 21 more, will teach four workshops:
· “HQT Certification for the Intervention Specialist in Mathematics Content,” June 9-11
· “Proven and Effective Methods for Passing ANY End-of-Course Exam,” June 23-25
· “Graphing Calculator for the Beginner or as a Refresher,” June 30-July 2
· “Foundations of Teaching High School Mathematics,” Aug. 4-6
The other two workshops, both new and in session June 16-18, are:
· “Learning and Teaching High School Mathematics with the Common Core"
· “Mathalon—An Engaging Mathematics Workout for Middle School Teachers”
Registration deadlines are eight days prior to the first day of each course.
