"Super" programs coming to the library
Traffic will be heavy in the next few days at the Bluffton Public Library. Lots of programs are planned. Here's the schedule:
Veteran panel
On Thursday, June 11 at 6 p.m. is an “Ask a Veteran” panel, featuring membersf of the Bluffton American Legion and other local veterans.
To participate, submit a question and register for the panel on the library website or at the front desk.
This event is a part of the library's “Community Heroes” week.
Super Senses
Super Senses takes place on Friday, June 12, (and again on Friday, June 26) at 10 a.m. Children (and adults) learn best and retain the most information when they engage their senses.
Exposing children to sensory play helps them develop and refine the use of their senses. Sensory play can be divided into five classifications that correspond to the senses:
• touch,
• sight,
• hearing,
• smell and
• taste.
Toddlers ages 1-3 are invited to explore their senses through fun activities. All children must be accompanied by an adult who will also participate. Please register for this program online or at the library.
Post-it Hero Art
Youth 6th grade and up may visit the library Friday, June 12, at 12:30 p.m. for Post-it Hero Art. The project involves decorating the community room with giant sticky note masterpieces of superheroes.
Women's self defense
On Monday, June 15, at 6 p.m., tweens, teen girls and women may participate in a lesson in self defense.
Gennifer Akroyd of Damsel in Defense presents “Be Your OWN Hero: Learning Self-Awareness and Self-Defense” as a part of “Be a Hero Week.”
The session is on the lower level of the library. Registration is requested, and you may do so by calling or stopping by the library.
