Funeral service for Stan Schneck, Pandora community leader, Wednesday
Stanley W. Schneck, 68, of Pandora, died at 7:53 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2015, at The Ohio State University Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 10, 1946 in Bluffton to Clarence and Helen (Burkhalter) Schneck and married Shirley Wingate Feb. 7, 1981.
A lifelong resident of Pandora, he retired after 33 years at the First National Bank of Pandora to become Pandora village administrator. He had previously served Pandora as mayor, clerk-treasurer, and as a paramedic. With recent training as an auctioneer, he planned to continue pursuing the profession part-time in his retirement years.
Other current and past community activities include: Pandora Chamber of Commerce; Hilty Home Board; Bluffton Hospital Board; Pandora Medical Services Corporation Board; Bluffton-Pandora Rotary Club; Pandora-Gilboa athletic and music boosters; Putnam County Community Improvement Corporation Board; Putnam County Mayors Association, and Port Authority of Northwestern Ohio Board. He served in the Ohio Army National Guard.
For many years, he has been heavily involved in the Pandora-Bluffton module of Findlay Area Youth for Christ (Campus Life). He was a member and teacher at St. John Mennonite Church in Pandora, where he had attended for the entirety of his life.
Surviving are wife Shirley of Pandora; three sons, Barry (Mandy) Schneck of Columbus Grove, Brandon Schneck of Waynesville, and Bevan Schneck of Hilliard; six grandchildren; a brother, Bill (Marily) Schneck of Toledo and a sister in law, Nancy Schneck of Pandora.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Barb (Neil) Bixel, and a brother, Don Schneck.
Funeral services will begin 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. John Mennonite Church, Pandora. Revs. Lynn Thompson and Jim King will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Pandora.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Pandora-Bluffton Youth for Christ. Arrangements are by Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Bluffton. Online condolences may be expressed at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
