Here's the August-September Bluffton University events calendar
Students are returning to campus and the September Bluffton University calendar is full of events. It follows:
Bluffton University arts and events: August/September 2015
Events are free and open to the public unless noted otherwise.
Aug. 31 Art exhibit: “The Art of Fiber,” an exhibition of work from the northwest Ohio art group Fiberforum, Grace Albrecht Gallery, Sauder Visual Arts Center, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 1-5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Sept. 25. A reception will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13.
Sept. 1 Forum: Opening Convocation, 10:45 a.m., Sommer Center for Health and Fitness Education. The speaker will be poet and novelist Marge Piercy, author of “He, She and It,” this year’s summer reading for first-year Bluffton students. Piercy’s presentation, “Paying Attention Where It Counts,” will also launch Bluffton’s 2015-16 civic engagement theme, “Gender Roles, Relationships, Realities.”
Sept. 11 Colloquium: “An Achievement Evaluation of a Flipped Calculus Course,” by Dr. Donald Hooley, professor of mathematics, 4 p.m., Stutzman Lecture Hall, Centennial Hall
Sept. 15 President’s Forum: Dr. James Harder, 11 a.m., Founders Hall
Sept. 22 Constitution Day Forum: Dr. Timothy Jost, the Robert L. Willett Family Professor of Law at the Washington and Lee University School of Law, will discuss “The Constitution and Health Care for the Uninsured” at 11 a.m. in Founders Hall.
Sept. 24 Artist Series: Apollo’s Fire, a baroque chamber instrumental ensemble, 7:30 p.m., Yoder Recital Hall. Tickets are available on the Web, at http://tickets.bluffton.edu, or by contacting the university box office at [email protected] or 419-358-3239.
Reserved seats are $25 for adults, $20 for senior citizens and non-Bluffton students and $10 for children ages 6-13. Children ages 5 and under are admitted free. Season tickets are also available, at $90 for adults and $75 for senior citizens and non-Bluffton students. A family pass is $55 with the purchase of any season ticket and admits all children in the family ages 6-18.
Sept. 25 Colloquium: “The Traveler Ponders Some Rumors: A Sabbatical Report,” by Jeff Gundy, professor of English, 4 p.m., Stutzman Lecture Hall, Centennial Hall. Gundy spent last spring semester on sabbatical in Lithuania.
Sept. 29 Forum: Spring 2015 cross-cultural experiences of Bluffton students, 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., Founders Hall
