Richard Smith 1930-2010 was a Bluffton barber
Richard M. Smith, 79 of Findlay died at 5:46 a.m. June 19, 2010, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay. He was born in Lima on Oct. 23, 1930, to Elmer S. and Claribell Miller Smith. On Dec. 28, 1951, he married Patricia Sherer and she preceded him in death on June 16, 1974.
Mr. Smith owned and operated Smitty's Barber Shop in Findlay and had been a partner in Dick and Jerry's Barber Shop in Bluffton. He enjoyed traveling, talking and history. He was a graduate of Lafayette High School, Toledo Barber College and a Korean War Veteran.
Survivors include four sons; Jeff (Susanna) Smith of Findlay, Nelson (Ann) Smith of Fremont, Brian (Sonia) Smith of Ashland, Tim, (Kelly) Smith of Tiffin, a daughter, Sue Ellen Smith of Columbus, 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A brother, Dan Smith, preceded him in death.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at Maple Grove Cemetery, Bluffton. Rev. Kevin Mohr will officiate. Military rites will follow the graveside service. Memorial contributions may be made to Bridge Hospice or Honor Flight Network. Arrangements are by Chiles-Laman Funeral Home, Bluffton.
