Writer's Series featured among November activities at Bluffton library
As a part of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), BPL presents its 2015 Writer’s Series. Starting right away on Nov. 2, come to our kick-off “Come Write In” event! Fellow NaNoWriMo writers can share plot and character ideas, browse online NaNoWriMo forums, eat snacks, drink coffee or tea, and commiserate with other local writers attempting the seemingly impossible-- writing a novel in one month! So, bring your laptop or notebook to start (or continue) your novel, and don’t forget to check out the library’s display of resources for writers. Bluffton Public Library is a registered “Come Write In” library and NaNoWriMo supporter.
Then, join us in celebrating local writers, starting with a book signing on Nov. 10 at 6pm with Ezekiel Tracy, author of The Death Diary. Ezekiel Tracy is a 2013 graduate of Bluffton University and Children’s Pastor from Continental, Ohio, and this is his first novel.
Paula Scott will present her talk on copyediting on Nov. 12 at 6:30pm. This program will be in the library’s local history room on the main floor. We invite all writers to come discover tools to help improve their written work, whatever it may be!
Caribbean-born Tobias Buckell will be at the library for a book signing on Nov. 16 at 6pm. Tobias Buckell is a New York Times Bestselling author and has won numerous awards for his novels and over 50 published short stories. He can be found online at TobiasBuckell.com.
Lori Todd will end our Writer’s Series on Nov. 24 at 6pm with a book signing of her novel, Silver Links, a novel about a woman who discovers she is Irish royalty. Lori Todd is a public school teacher from Cincinnati, Ohio.
The Dulcimers @ the Library continue to meet at the library on Tuesdays-- starting at 1pm. Come to any meeting to join.
Chill Zone continues on Nov. 3, 10, 17, and 24 at 3:30pm this month. This is a time for teens and tweens (6th grade and up) to snack, talk, play games, watch movies, and make crafts.
The Gardeners of Bluffton/Pandora Area will meet this month on Nov. 3 at 6:30pm on the lower level of the library.
On Nov. 4, our monthly Noon Book Discussion group will meet to discuss the book The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman. Members of this group must register to participate; if you have not registered yet, but would like to now, you can still be a part of the discussion of Holmes on the Range by Steve Hockensmith! Registration for all library events can be made at our front desk or by phone (419-358-5016).
Creative Crochet is back on Nov. 4, 11, and 18, all at 4pm. Join us to create a special holiday gift. Registration is required for this event, and we recommend that participants have some prior knowledge of crochet. For more information contact [email protected]

The library’s annual Holiday Gift Silent Auction fundraising event begins Fri., Nov. 1 and runs through Mon., Nov. 30 at 5pm sharp. All items will have a Buy Now price and a Starting Bid. Anonymous bidding is available upon request at the front desk. Do your holiday shopping at the library and make your purchase count towards library programs and services in your community! Cash or check is accepted, and many thanks go to the businesses, organizations, and individuals who have donated this year.
Playgroup participants are encouraged to attend Tot Bop, an interactive dance and exercise group for children 1-3 years. Registration is required for this event, and in November, Tot Bop is on the 6th and 20th, both at 10am.
On Nov. 7 and 21 at 10am, come Paws to Read with Teddy! Stop by the library to read a book to Teddy, a certified therapy dog. Teddy loves hearing stories or just getting a friendly cuddle. This program supports literacy, the humane treatment of animals, and healthy stress relief practices.

International Games Day is Sat., Nov. 21 and to celebrate, BPL will have an event from 10am to 1pm in the lower level meeting room at the library. This family friendly event will offer table-top games to learn and play with others, and you can bring a game of your own to share if you’d like! Refreshments will be provided for this FREE program.
