Library staff ready for 2016 - and here's the January plan
The library will be closed on Jan. 1, 2, and 18. Due dates will be adjusted accordingly.
Bluffton Public Library staff is ready for January. Here's what's on the library's calendar for the first month of 2016.
Warm up with a cup of hot tea. During Hot Tea Tuesdays, free hot tea and other light refreshments will be available for browsing patrons from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Also on Tuesdays, area teens and tweens (6th grade and up) are invited to Chill Zone. Come participate in crafts, play games, snack, and talk at 3:30 p.m.
Need help with the new tablet or laptop you received for Christmas? Not sure how to check out free eBooks through our library? Register for a Tutor Me Paperless session by calling 419-358-5016, emailing [email protected], or by submitting an online contact form on our website. Tutoring sessions continue on Wednesdays in January, by appointment only.
BPL’s new Sci-Fi/Fantasy Writer's Group will meet Thursday, Jan. 7 at 6 p.m. Registration is required and space is limited. Email [email protected] to register or for more information.
Tot Bop, an exercise a dance group for children 1-3 years, continues Jan. 8 and 22 at 10 a.m. Registration is required for this program and spots are full. Interested parents may add their name to a waiting list.
Registration for a new season of Storytime is now underway. begins Dec. 21. Registration is required and spaces are limited. Sessions are Mondays, Jan. 11 and 25 at 6:30 p.m; or on Tuesdays, Jan. 12, 19, and 26 at 10 a.m.
Janette Reineke will have a book signing at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 14, for her new book "Fear No Art! You Can Do It!" Books will be on sale for $24.99. Patrons may also sign up for her February art workshop.
BPL will host adult coloring and hot drinks on Friday, Jan. 15 from 10 a.m. to noon. Materials are provided for use at the library.
Join licensed therapy dog, Teddy, for Paws 2 Read on Saturday, Jan. 16, and 30 at 10 a.m. Teddy loves hearing stories or just getting a friendly cuddle. This program supports literacy, the humane treatment of animals, and healthy stress relief practices.
Learn about Japanese culture during an interactive presentation by Ayane Hida, the Japanese Outreach Coordinator at the University of Findlay. The event is Thursday, Jan. 21 at 6:30 p.m. for Let’s Learn About Japanese Culture. Activities may include the basics of language and a calligraphy lesson, and all ages are welcome. Please register to ensure the availability of supplies.
A “How to Use the New Library Website” presentation is Thursday, Jan. 28, at 6:30 p.m. Bring your laptop, smart phone, and/or tablet (or use one of our reserved computers) as staff members walk through new website features, and reveal some features you may not know about. There will be time for questions at the end of the presentation. Registration is preferred to ensure enough space for participants. Dulcimers @ the Library continues Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m. Jammin' @ the Library also continues every other Monday (Jan. 11 and 25) at 6 p.m.
Yoga Fit by BFR continues on the lower level on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. To register and pay the membership fee, contact Bluffton Family Recreation.
