Pandora High School calling cards

Note: Earlier this spring The Icon was contacted by Christine Collins formerly of Pandora. She sent the following historical information and photos. To view the photos click here.

I was excited when I found it as I was looking for information on an old school in Allen County - Diller School.

I lived in Pandora for 11 years on the family homestead. We bought the farm on which my mother was born from my Uncle Clifton Neuenschwander. It's located on Road R between Road 3 and Road 4. During that time I was very involved in my work as a hospital administrator at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay and did not have time to pursue my passion - genealogy.

I retired in 2004 and moved to Tennessee to be near my sons and their families. We brought my mother - Carrie Neuenschwander Assmann - with us and, at 104, she remains healthy and resides in a nursing home.

The point of this note is to suggest a genealogy section to be added to your content. I have a few pictures and very old Pandora High School calling cards that I would like to get into the hands of family members who would enjoy having them.

Additionally, I have pictures and documents in my files that might be of interest to folks who share the same ancestors with me. I'm sure there are documents in the community that would be of interest to me as well.

I think this idea is particularly appropriate in the Bluffton/Pandora community as there are so many folks who share an appreciation of our history. Your website seems to me to be a perfect venue.

Attached are two files that have the calling cards from Pandora High School. Don't know what year..either from my Mother's (Carrie Neuenschwander) graduation - about 1925 or Alta Neuenschwander's graduation 1930.

Also are two pictures. One is the music teacher from Pandora High School, Ms. Russell. The other is a picture of Pete Steiner's sons - John, Gideon and Reuben. I will gladly send these pictures and the cards to folks who might be interested in having them.

Also, I am pretty much ready to share three generations of the descendants of John Neuenschwander - or Yankee John. He was quite a character, living in the Putnam/Allen community. There are many descendants of Yankee John living in the Bluffton area and they could fill in the blanks as well as correct errors. Will send when completed.
