Bluffton police respond to 486 calls for service in August
Bluffton police responded to 486 calls for service during August, according to Tyler Hochstetler, police sergeant. The August report follows:
August 1
- A Hillville Road resident reported his juvenile daughter took his vehicle from the parking lot of a Garau Street business. The juvenile was taken to the Allen County Juvenile Detention Center on Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle charges. The case is pending in Allen County Juvenile Court.
August 2
- Officers arrested Dennis J. Ellerbrock, 55, Lima, for driving under suspension following a traffic stop in the area of County Line Road. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Mr. Ellerbrock’s son, Dennis M. Ellerbrock, knew his father was driving the vehicle without a valid license. Dennis M. Ellerbrock was ultimately issued a citation for wrongful entrustment. Both cases are pending in Findlay Municipal Court.
- A North Lawn Avenue resident reported her daughter’s bicycle was stolen from the Bluffton Pool sometime during the overnight hours.
August 3
- A Cherry Street resident reported that a contractor who was working on his home was bitten by a neighbor’s dog.
August 6
- Officers responded to a State Route 103 business in reference to an intoxicated person causing problems. After determining the subject to be intoxicated, officers arrested the subject, a London, Kentucky resident, for disorderly conduct and he was transported to the Hancock County Justice Center. The case is pending in Findlay Municipal Court.
August 7
- Officers arrested Christen Patton, 33, Toledo, for driving under suspension following a traffic stop for an equipment violation in the area of State Route 103 and Commerce Lane. The case is pending in Findlay Municipal Court.
August 11
- Officers arrested Chattos Hines, 39, Steubenville, for driving under suspension following a traffic stop in the area of State Route 103 and Citizens Parkway. The case is pending in Findlay Municipal Court.
August 12
- A Vance Street resident reported that she is being stalked by a male subject.
August 13
- Officers arrested Reginald D. Phillips, 24, Lima, for driving under suspension following a traffic stop for an equipment violation in the area of State Route 103 and Interstate 75.
- Officers arrested Tyler Matte, 24, Bluffton, on an outstanding warrant out of Van Wert County.
- Officers arrested Christina Larson, 42, Findlay, on an outstanding warrant out of Hancock County.
August 18
- Officers arrested Derek K. Gatlin, 27, Lima, for driving under suspension following a traffic stop for an equipment violation in the area of Jefferson Street near Thurman Street. The case is pending in Lima Municipal Court.
August 21
- A Cherry Street resident reported a neighbor’s dog was running at large and charged at them.
August 22
- A North Main Street resident reported that his golf cart was stolen while he was away from it. The golf cart was found a few blocks away unharmed.
August 23
- Officers responded to a non-injury traffic crash in the area of South Main Street at Poplar Street. Stacey N. Holt, 50, Ada, was issued a citation for Assured Clear Distance Ahead. The case is pending in Lima Municipal Court.
August 25
- Officers responded to a State Route 103 business in reference to a suicidal female who was intoxicated. Officers transported the suicidal female to St. Rita’s Medical Center where she was evaluated for treatment.
- Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of State Route 103 and Interstate 75. While investigating the traffic stop, officers noticed the strong odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle. Ultimately, officers issued a citation to Luke Becknell, 20, Sardinia, for possession of a controlled substance. The case is pending in Findlay Municipal Court.
August 27
- Officers were called to the Bluffton Village Park in regards to a suicidal male subject. After an investigation into the complaint, officers determined the subject to be angry and not suicidal. The subject had an injury to his hand from punching a guard rail and was transported by Bluffton EMS to Bluffton Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
- A Cherry Street resident reported that sometime during an unknown period of time, an unknown subject(s) entered his vehicle and stole a bag of change out of the center console of his vehicle.
August 31
- An East College Avenue resident reported that an unknown subject(s) stole 12 boxes of tomatoes from the bed of his truck during the overnight hours.
- Officers arrested Emily B. Cheney, 22, Bluffton for driving under suspension following a traffic stop for a speeding violation in the 800 block of County Line Road. The case is pending Court.
