Bluffton library invites you to tour the Hayes Presidential Library

Join Bluffton Public Library for a tour of the Rutherford B. Hayes library on Saturday, Oct. 7. Participants should meet BPL's Public Services Coordinator, Lauren, at the Hayes library, which is inside the Hayes museum's building; transportation is not provided. The library tour and presentation will begin promptly at 2:30 p.m., but anyone wanting to tour the museum or Hayes residence may do so on their own before or after the library tour. For pricing and schedule information for museum/residence tours, visit: rbhayes.org/visit-us/visitor-information. However, our Presidential Library tour at 2:30 is free.

What is the Hayes Library?

The family of the 19th U.S. president began the first presidential library in 1916. "This library preserves President Hayes' 12,000-volume personal library along with archival material from his military and political career, particularly his presidency (1877-1881). Over the years, the staff has expanded the collection to over 80,000 books which reflect Hayes' special interests, including genealogy, local history, and the Gilded Age period in which he lived."(rhayes.org/research
