Jim Green initiated Omega Mechanical Design
James Edward Green, 89, of Bluffton died at 1:40 p.m., Oct. 28, 2017, at the Mennonite Memorial Home.
Jim was born on the family farm where he grew up in Putnam County on Aug. 3, 1928, to the late Milford and Anna Belle (Clark) Green. He graduated from Mt. Cory High School in 1946 and attended Bowling Green State University. On Sept. 12, 1948 he married Marilyn Irene Marquart.
Jim was employed by Triplett Corp. in Bluffton then worked for Ex-Cello Corporation in Lima for 21 years. Jack Ridge and Jim formed Edeco in Findlay, an engineering consulting company. Later Jack and Jim started Ridge and Associates in Findlay. Then Jim initiated Omega Mechanical Design in Bluffton and worked until his retirement at age 70.
He served on the Cory-Rawson school board for eight years and also served on the Northwest Regional School Board. He taught two years at the Ohio State University in Lima.
Jim was a member of English Lutheran Church and served on the church council and also taught the Adult Sunday School class.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Irene Green; a daughter, Jane (Douglas) Foltz of Rawson; two sons, Thomas (Debra) Green, William (Linda) Green both of Bluffton; seven grandchildren, Angela Foltz, Amy (Darrell) Baird, Kimberly (Steve) Arnott, Kara (Jordan) Barnhisel, Kristopher (Bethany) Green, Lindsay (Jason) Conrad and Aaron (Laura) Green; sixteen great grandchildren, Jacob and Nathan Baird, Anthony Wolford, Justin and Klarissa Arnott, Peyton, Maddox, Greyson and Sophie Barnhisel, Braden and Lauren Conrad, Emma, Lukas and Olivia Green, Elizabeth and Natalie Green; a brother, Bernard Green of Findlay; a sister Joan (Robert) Warren of Terre Haute, Indiana; and a sister in law, Carolyn Green of Bluffton.
Jim was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard (Marjorie) Green and Kenneth Green; and a great grandson, Wyatt Arnold.
Services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 31, at the English Lutheran Church in Bluffton. Pastor Kevin Mohr officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery near Mt. Cory. Visitation will be Monday from 5 – 8 p.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the English Lutheran Church Building Fund or the Mennonite Memorial Home.
