Bluffton names Kevin Gregory Women's Soccer Head Coach
Bluffton University has named Kevin Gregory as its head women’s soccer coach.
Gregory has four years of experience coaching in the NCAA, plus an additional four years of Division III playing experience. For the past four years, he has served as the assistant men’s soccer coach for Hendrix College, a Division III school in Conway, Ark. For two of those years, Gregory also served as an assistant coach for the Hendrix women’s soccer team.
“My goal is to provide a successful student-athlete experience for the players. Having coached and played at small, private colleges and universities, I’m committed to the development of the entire student-athlete,” said Gregory. “I am drawn to Bluffton because of its values of discovery, community, respect and service. All are important characteristics of winning programs and good people.”
As an assistant coach, Gregory’s responsibilities included coaching, recruiting, training, scouting and overseeing match preparation. He also has experience organizing soccer camps at Hendrix and coaching a boys U-12 team.
Gregory coached two All-Southern Athletic Association First Team selections and three honorable mentions on the men’s team and nine all-conference selections and three all-region players on the women’s team.
He was a four-year starter at Hendrix and was captain his senior year. Gregory holds the school record for most minutes played, was captain of a team that recorded the most shut outs in school history and was part of a class that earned the most wins in school history. Gregory is a lifelong soccer fan, having watched his father serve as head coach at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, since 1998.
He has a master’s degree in secondary education from Texas State University and a bachelor’s degree in history from Hendrix. In addition to coaching, he will teach in Bluffton’s health, fitness and sports science department.
