Defiance
Bluffton High School girls' soccer team hosted another game at Steinmetz field this past Saturday against Defiance. Pretty evenly matched, Bluffton had four shots, with Defiance close behind with three in the first half.
With the score being 0-0 at half time both teams were anxious to get out and play some more. Bluffton didn't let up and neither did Defiance. However, Defiance did out shoot the Pirates in the second half, 5-1. Time ticking, Defiance had a foul in the box. The penalty kick was taken by Megan Dulle.
She hit the crossbar but Bluffton wasn't about to quit. Both opponents kept playing and fighting for a goal. By the time the clock ran out the score was still 0-0 ending in a tie.

LCC hosted the Bluffton Pirates Thursday the 9th on their turf field.
Starting the game off quickly, Bluffton was first to the ball and ready to go.
Luckily the Pirates were ready because the turf made the pace of the
game move much faster than a grass field game. Both teams passed and manuvered quickly the whole game, and it seemed as if the ball hardly ever stopped. Working hard for goals and planning ahead in plays, Bluffton onlyhad two shots and LCC had four.
Bluffton's keeper, Heslep, kept her concentration in tact and never once let a ball through, making a striking 11 saves throughout the game. By half time, the score being 0-0, the Pirates got reived and the Thunderbirds were just as determined to win. LCC playing with strength and concentration had two shots.
Having new strategies and intensity in their souls and in the air, Bluffton picked up their game still having two shots in the second half, but one went in the net! Freshmen Jill Steinmetz assisted a perfect pass to Megan Dulle who made a small run and kicked the ball from just outside the 18.
The ball soaring through the air, their keeper could only jump and hope to catch it, but the power behind the ball sent it right through her hands.
Holding the Thunderbirds for the remaining 9 minutes of the match was fullvof intensity for all around, players and fans. Success came with all the hard work for the Pirates making their record 2-2-1 and the lights on the board to glow a well earned 1-0.
