McElroy named HCAC Hitter of the Week
March 19, 2018
BLUFFTON, Ohio - Senior Josie McElroy (Mt. Orab/Western Brown) has been named the Heartland Conference Hitter of the Week after leading Bluffton to victories at Albion and over Heidelberg the last two days. It marks the third time in McElroy's career that she has been named the HCAC Hitter of the Week.
McElroy blistered the opposition with a .765 batting average (13-of-17) as the Beavers went 2-2 on the week. She pounded four home runs, two at Albion and two in game two against Heidelberg. McElroy drove in 11 runs, scored six times, added three doubles and put together an astronomical 1.647 slugging percentage. She had a .778 OBP and stole a base.
After a strikeout in her first trip to the plate on Sunday, McElroy pounded eight consecutive hits, including two dingers and a pair of doubles! Her two-bagger in the bottom of the eighth in game one plated two runs, handing Bluffton an unlikely victory after the Beavers fell behind 6-3 in extra innings.
Bluffton is off until Friday, March 23, when the Beavers welcome Alma College for a 3:30 p.m. doubleheader. Come out and watch the ladies as they show off their torrid hitting at Bluffton Field!
