First United Methodist Church members invite community to participate in Saturday mission project
Members of Bluffton First United Methodist Church will be volunteering for a local mission event at 7:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 25, in Lima. They invite others from the community to participate.
The event will focus on a 10-block neighborhood in Lima near Faurot Park. After registration at 7:30 a.m. and a kick-off rally involving Bluffton First United Methodist Church's praise band, "Waiting on Our Souls," volunteers will depart for the work projects.
Projects planned include landscaping, painting and cleaning, ramp building for handicapped residents plus weed and debris removal.
A block party celebration will begin at 4:30 p.m. and the day's events will conclude at 6 p.m. A small registration fee covers lunch and dinner, a t-shirt, supplies for the work projects and insurance. Financial aid is available, if needed.
The mission day is co-sponsored by 1 By Youth and many local businesses serving Lima, Bluffton and the surrounding communities.
1 By Youth is part of Group Cares, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that provides dynamic short-term mission trips and service events that help children, youth, and adults connect to Jesus while serving people in Christ's name.
