BHS and middle school busy this week

Here are several news items relating to Bluffton High School. News from the Middle School is also in this story.

Oct. 1 is the last day for students to hand in your T-Shirt order for the "White-Out". Pick up your order form in office.

Student Senate has a meeting Friday morning at 7:15 a.m. in Mrs. Riffle's room. All members must attend.

Seniors - Jostens will be here Thursday at 10:40 a.m. to meet with you regarding caps and gowns, announcements and other graduation items.

Attention Renaissance Members: Our first outing will be going bowling on Tuesday Oct. 12 from 8:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. If you are interested in bowling, sign-ups will be Thursday and Friday, Sept. 30 and Oct. 1. The cost is $4 per person. Must pay your money when you sign up. There will be six people per lane. .

Sept. 30 is the last day to sign up for Latin Club. Dues of $5 if you forgot to bring your money today bring it tomorrow to Mrs. Bassett.

Sept. 30 is Spanish Club at 7:30 p.m.

Sophomores and juniors may register this week for the PSAT. This test qualifies juniors for the National Merit Scholarship Program. The test will be given at the high school on Wednesday, Oct. 13. The test fee is $13 and is due at the time you sign up. Registration will start Sept. 30 in the lobby outside the cafeteria. You will be able to register any day this week. Checks should be made payable to Bluffton High School.

If you are interested in becoming a Math Club member, there is a one-time national dues fee. Please see Mrs. Riffle if you are interested in becoming a member. Membership sign-up will be available through Friday, Oct. 8.

Sophomores and Juniors: If you are interested in Marine Biology, see Mr. Hoff for an Ocean Focus Application.

Any students interested in completing a Science Fair Project this year should see Mr. Hoff for more information.

NEWS FROM THE MIDDLE SCHOOL

Midterm Grades

Midterm grades will be distributed to students on Friday, Oct. 1st at the end of the day. You can also view your child's grades online daily through Progressbook. If you forget your login name and password, call the office (419)358-7961 and Mrs. Oberly will set you up with a new one.

Spirit Week:

To celebrate our school spirit for Homecoming, BMS has come up with their own Spirit Week for the week of 10/4-8th.

  • Monday: PJ Day
  • Tuesday: Favorite Team Day
  • Weds: Hat Day
  • Thurs: Twin Day
  • Friday: Pirate Day

Pirate Discount Cards

All Fall athletes were given 2 Pirate Discount Cards to sell. The price is $10/card. The card offers discounts at a variety of businesses including Tu Pueblo, Shannon Theater, Luke's Grill, Dough Hook etc.

Please support the Bluffton Athletes by purchase a card from them. Additional cards will be available after October 4 in the BMS & BHS offices.

Softball UniformsAny girl who played on the summer softball league needs to turn their uniform in to the BMS office ASAP!

HOMECOMING "WHITE OUT" T-SHIRTS

The cheerleaders would like to have a "White Out" at the homecoming game on Oct. 8 against Spencerville. They are selling t-shirts and sweatshirts for this event. The shirts say "GAME ON" on the front and have a Pirate head on the back. T-shirts are $8/Sweatshirts hooded $15/Sweatshirts crew neck $12. Stop in the office and pick up an order form or stop up at Sports Warehouse.

Boys Basketball Open Gym/Lifting

Any 6th-8th grade boy interested in basketball can stop down in the office and pick up an open gym/weightlifting schedule.

BHS ATHLETIC BOOSTER SPIRIT SALE

The Bluffton Athletic Boosters are offering a variety of clothing items that can be purchased to show your school spirit. Order forms can be picked up in the BMS and BHS offices. Samples of these items can be viewed at home varsity football games or at the "Sports Warehouse" located on Main Street in Bluffton.

Varsity Football Tickets will be on sale in the BMS and BHS offices every Thursday and Friday until 1:00. Presale prices for AWAY GAMES: $5 Adult/$4 Student/$6.00 at the gate.
