Neurosurgical Associates of Northwest Ohio offering O-armTM Imaging System
Neurosurgical Associates of Northwest Ohio, a division of Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS), recently installed an O-armTM Surgical Imaging System, an intraoperative 2D and 3D imaging system that is used to assist providers in placing hardware, removing cancerous activity and preforming a variety of procedures.
Used in conjunction with a navigation system, this system allows surgeons to receive a multidimensional view of the surgical location, improving accuracy and reducing the risk of injury. Spinal, orthopedic trauma, neurological and other types of imaging can be achieved with the O-armTM system.
“BVHS is committed to acquiring the most innovative technology to care for our patients,” said Kelly Shroll, President of Blanchard Valley Medical Practices. “Our providers are dedicated to offering the safest and most accurate techniques and procedures in medicine.”
Currently, two BVHS providers are utilizing the O-armTM imaging system: Neurosurgeons Robert Hollis, MD and John Ogden, MD.
“The O-armTM system is superior to previous methods because it provides images of the surgical site in real time, rather than using images that were taken before the procedure,” Dr. Hollis explained. “This makes surgery safer for patients and reduces the likelihood of patients experiencing complications.”
“This imaging system can be used to perform many types of procedures,” Dr. Ogden added. “We use it for lumbar spinal fusions, spinal tumor removals, infection removals, placing hardware such as screws, and more.”
Dr. Hollis and Dr. Ogden have experienced excellent results with the latest technology. The two neurosurgeons are expecting many future positive outcomes with this system and are welcoming new patients in need of neurosurgical services.
“I’m really excited BVHS is committed to having the equipment required to complete complex procedures, right here in our community health system,” Dr. Hollis expressed.
“We are sincerely grateful for the opportunity to provide high quality care to our patients using the O-armTM imaging system,” Dr. Ogden shared.
