Volleyball: Spikers fall to Riverdale

(BLUFFTON) - The Lady Pirate volleyball team won the opening game against Riverdale but the visiting Falcons won the final three games to defeat BHS. Bluffton is now 1-1 on the season.
The Pirates cruised to a 25-21 win in the opener but couldn't long scoring runs in the second and third games. In the second, Riverdale led 17-16 and 18-17 but the Pirates couldn't tie it up. RHS scored the next six points off the serve of Bry Vanden Bosch and won the game 25-18.
Tied at 7-7 in the third, Riverdale quickly distanced themselves out to a 19-8 advantage as the Pirates could not corral serves. The Falcons took the third game 25-19. The fourth game was again tightly contested tied at 10-10 and 12-12 and the Falcons went on to win 25-22.
Freshman Kylie Stackhouse led the Pirates with 8 kills and Taylor Schwab added 6. Ameri Siferd had 14 assists, Skyler Scoles 10. Katie Prater came up with 16 digs, Schwab 14 and Kylie Monday 13. Siferd & Scoles both had 2 aces. Libby Schaadt made four blocks at the net and made several hustle plays.
