Harold "Butch" VanMeter was retired from county engineer department
Harold "Butch" R. VanMeter, 75 died Aug. 21, 2018, at the Meadows of Delphos. Harold was born Dec. 11, 1942 in Bluffton, Ohio, to the late Harold and Frances (Schellenberg) VanMeter. On Dec. 31, 1982 he married Karen Hamby VanMeter and she survives.
Butch was a road maintenance worker for the Allen County Engineers prior to his retirement after 43 years. He enjoyed volunteering at the soup kitchen held at Christian Corners Community Center, reading and was an avid NASCAR fan.
Survivors include his wife, Karen VanMeter of Beaverdam; and a daughter, Ashley VanMeter of Beaverdam and numerous cousins.
Butch was preceded in death by a brother, Larry VanMeter.
Services will be held at 11:00, Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton. Pastor Tom Dearth officiating. Burial will be in Rockport Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
