John Miller was active in Pandora village activities

John A. Miller, 89, died Oct. 1, 2018, at Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora.  John was born Dec. 18, 1928, in Cloverdale to the late Ray and Flossie Jane (Shirey) Miller.  On June 3, 1950, he married Carrie Bauman Miller who survives.

John graduated from Continental High School. He had been a farmer and lifelong carpenter. John worked for Reichenbach Lumber in Bluffton. He was instrumental in the village clean-up of Gilboa and was later a custodian at St. John Mennonite Church in Pandora where he was a member.  John had been a volunteer member of the Riley Township - Pandora Fire Department and had served on the Board of Public Affairs in Pandora.  John and his wife, Carrie, introduced homemade ice cream to the surrounding Pandora area. 

Survivors include his wife, Carrie J. Miller; two sons, Gary (Judy) Miller of Pandora, Steven (Amy) Miller of Perrysburg; three daughters, Vicki (Ken) Hauenstein of Columbus Grove, Judie (Dave) Smith of Pandora, Sandy (Dwain) Hall of Pandora; 14 grandchildren; and 36 great grandchildren with one on the way.

John was preceded in death by eight siblings, Clarence Miller, Velma Miller, Faye Thomas, Jean Miller, Helen Miller, Jessie Morris, Ruth Korte and Irene Miller.

A Celebration of Life will begin at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 6, at St. John Mennonite Church, Pandora.  Pastors Paul Perkins and Lynn Thompson officiating.  Visitation will be Friday from 2 - 8 p.m. at the church and one hour prior to the service at the church.  

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Alzheimer's Association or the St. John Mennonite Church Mission Fund.
