Two Beavers all-conference soccer HM

Two members of the Bluffton University men's soccer team have been named Honorable Mention All-Heartland Conference following the 2018 season. Sophomore Timothy Murphy (Chesterfield, Twp., MI/L'Anse Creuse) and freshman Dalton Taynor(Troy/Miami East) were honored for their work on the pitch.

Tim Murphy buried a penalty kick for his first collegiate goal at Wittenberg on September 7. He has started 32 matches over the past two seasons with 15 shots, including 13 this year. It marks the second straight All-Heartland Conference honor for Murphy

The seven goals by Dalton Taynor were the most by a Beaver since Nate Flath found the back of the net 12 times in 2008. His seven tallies were tied for 7th in the Heartland Conference. He paced the Beavers with 32 shots, including 18 on frame. Taynor's work up front helped Bluffton score its most goals (8) in Heartland Conference play since nine tallies in 2009.

In conjunction with the All-HCAC selections, the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference also announced the Christopher M. Ragsdale All-Sportsmanship Awards for the fall of 2018. Sophomore Eric Bender (Vermillion/Lutheran West) was selected to the All-Sportsmanship Team from Bluffton. This award has been developed as part of a conference-wide sportsmanship initiative. Members of the All-Sportsmanship team are selected by the coaches and their teammates as individuals who demonstrate the ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field/court of competition.
