Group X classes for adults start March 4
Bluffton Family Recreation is accepting registrations for adult Group X classes this week, according to Daniel Tinch, BFR executive director.
The Spring Session 1 runs from Monday, March 4, to Friday, March 29. Go online at www.bfronline.com to register for any class or contact BFR, 215 Snider Road, Bluffton, 419-358-4150.
“BFR offers a variety of programs and fitness-based classes for members and non-members,” said Tinch.
“Regardless of age or fitness level, we have something for you. Become a member of our community and join others on the path towards a healthy lifestyle.”
Here are fitness classes offered:
TRX
The TRX system uses the leverage of gravity and your body weight to perform exercises. You control the intensity and how much you challenge yourself. Great for any fitness level.
• Mondays 5:30-6:30 a.m. and 12:15-12:45 p.m.
• Tuesdays 5:30-6:30 a.m. and 8:30-9:30 a.m. and 7-9 p.m.
• Wednesdays 12:15-12:45 p.m. and, 7-8 p.m.
• Thursdays 5:30-6:30 a.m. and 8:30-9:30 a.m.
• Friday 12:15-12:45 p.m.
Shred and sculpt
Men and women of all fitness levels will be challenged by the ever-changing workouts using dumbbell and kettle bell weights, med balls, bands, and core work mixed with limited cardio portions. Every session is different.
• Mondays through Fridays 7:30-8:30 a.m.
All star
Class is designed in a High Intensity Interval Training format with various station work intermixed with cardio activities. Stations include cardio, plyometrics, agility training, strengthening, flexibility, balance and coordination work.
• Mondays and Wednesdays 8:30-9:30 a.m.
TRX circuits
A mix of TRX straps and other fitness equipment. Elevate your heart rate during this functional fitness session.
• Wednesdays 5:30-6:30 a.m.
• Fridays 5:30-6:30 a.m.
Water I
A low impact water exercise focusing on strength and range of motion.
• Mondays 9:30-10:30 a.m. and 6-7 p.m.
• Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Water II
A low impact water exercise focusing on strength, range of motion, and cardio.
• Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:45-10:15 a.m.
Fit Over 50
Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of motion, and activities for daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a small ball are offered for resistance. A chair is available if needed for seated or standing support.
• Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, 9:45-10:45 a.m.
Senior Step Aerobics
This 30-minute class includes step choreography that will boost your heart rate and boost your muscles. Finishes with 10 minutes of stretching.
• Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:45-10:45 a.m.
Pickleball
A paddle sport that involves elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. Two or four players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a ball similar to a wiffleball over a net.
• Tuesdays. 8:30-10 a.m. and 7-9 p.m.
• Thursdays, 8:30-10 a.m. and 5-7 p.m.
Yoga
Yoga class with an emphasis on the fitness benefits of yoga – improving strength, flexibility, posture, body awareness, balance and breathing techniques. This class can be revised to meet individual fitness needs.
• Mondays and Wednesdays, 7-8 p.m.
Balance and stretching
Modified yoga poses performed while seated in a chair. A great option for anyone that deals with osteoporosis, chronic pain, multiple sclerosis, and anyone looking to improve balance and flexibility.
• Wednesdays, 4-5 p.m.
Open basketball
Pick-up basketball. Open to members and non-members.
• Mondays and Fridays, noon-1 p.m.
• Wednesdays, noon-1 p.m. and 8-9 p.m.
Cycling
Cycling is a combination of an aerobic and conditioning workout performed on a stationary bike.
• Mondays, 6 p.m.
• Tuesdays, 7:30 a.m. and 12:15-12:45 p.m.
• Thursdays, 7:30 a.m. and 12:15-12:45 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Pre-registration dates for scheduling classes
Members may pre-register online two weeks before the class begins.
Non-member participants who have purchased a four-week session package may pre-register online one week before the class begins.
Online pre-registration closes on the first day of the four-week session package. If you miss the pre-registration, you may stop by the front desk or call BFR at 419-358-4150 to check for classes that may still have openings.
