Mercy Health celebrates Neil Armstrong’s visit to the moon
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Neil Armstrong’s first steps on the moon, Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center is hosting an opportunity for individuals to meet former Astronaut and Col. Gregory H. Johnson.
On Friday, July 19, at 10 a.m., he will be giving a presentation at the St. Rita’s Auxiliary Conference Center. There is no cost to attend and light refreshments will be served.
Johnson served as a pilot on two Endeavour missions, STS – 123 in 2008 and STS – 134 in 2011. Both missions visited the International Space Station. In addition, he has spent a total of 30 days in space and completed nearly 500 Earth orbits while traveling over 12.5 million miles.
In addition, St. Rita’s will sponsor the “Run to the Moon” 5k and 10k in Wapakoneta. The race will take place Saturday, July 20, and includes free entry into the Armstrong Air and Space Museum.
