Girls' soccer: BHS beats Riverdale; Allen East up next

MT. BLANCHARD - The Bluffton girls soccer team won 3-1 at Riverdale Saturday evening.
The Lady Pirates improved to 3-2-1 with their third consecutive win.
Clara Matthews tallied two goals to pace the victors. She scored in the 14th minute to give Bluffton a 1-0 lead at halftime.
Reagan Mittendorf netted a penalty kick in the 54th minute to extend the Pirate lead to 2-0. Matthews then put the game out of reach with her second goal in the 68th minute, 3-0.
Riverdale avoided a shutout in the final moments when Lexi Miller scored in the 79th minute on a penalty kick.
Riverdale put 13 of its 14 shots on goal. Bluffton got off nine shots, eight of which were on target.
The Pirates made 12 saves compared to four by the Falcons.
Bluffton (2-0 NWC) plays at local county rival Allen East (4-0, 1-0 NWC) Tuesday, Sept. 10 in a league battle.
