Wrights perform at town hall Nov. 14
Bluegrass music will be on the town hall concert series from4 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 14, according toWendy Chappell-Dick.
"All ages are invited to a gathering of some of the best pickers in the region playing bluegrass and old time standards. Bring your instrument and play along," she said.
Music in the Rafters has been a home town tradition for years at Mike and Opie Wright's house on Elm Street.
Every other Sunday they set up a sound system, bring out the lawn chairs and open their back barn to house one of the most interesting Bluegrass jam sessions in the area.
Veterans in the music scene, Mike, Opie, and their son, Brad, have played together in the Wright Family Band and have participated in many other local bands and music events.
Their network of musical friends and contacts extends far and wide, and when they bring them all together they make music to raise the rafters. Brad Wright is known for his popular group Nashville Crush http://www.nashvillecrush.com/, which also features Mike on the banjo.
On Nov. 14, the party moves indoors to the town hall concert series.
Not only is this Sunday the season finale of Music in the Rafters, it is also a birthday celebration for Opie's mother Polly Pursell, a 20-year cancer survivor.
