Lady Pirates scalp Redskins

ARCADIA - The visiting Bluffton girls basketball team earned a big early lead and went on to whip Arcadia soundly 59-39 in a non-league contest Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Pirates raced to a 21-9 edge after one period of play as Sami Scoles scored seven points and Riley Eachus buried two three-point goals.
The Pirate girls extended the lead to 36-21 at intermission as Eachus drained two more triples and Kylie Stackhouse netted five second quarter points.
Bluffton put the game away with a 16-7 third period that extended the cushion to 52-28. Kylie Monday canned three baskets in the third stanza.
The balanced Pirates put four players in double figures as eight scored.
Bluffton improved its record to 5-3 overall with the convincing win, their third in a row. The Redskin girls dropped to 1-2 with the defeat.
Eachus and Monday led the victors with a dozen points apiece. Stackhouse and Scoles each contributed 11 markers.
Lyndee Ward led the Redskin girls with nine points. Reagan Pratt and Isabelle Mundy each added eight points.
The Pirate girls connected on 23 field goals, hitting 18 two-pointers and five trifectas. Bluffton converted eight of 15 free throw attempts (53 percent).
Scoles nailed seven of eight at the charity stripe, inluding five of six in the first period. The rest of the team shot only 1-7 from the foul line.
The Lady Redskins sank 15 field goals, hitting 12 two-pointers and three shots from three-point land. Arcadia canned six of nine foul shots (67 percent).

Bluffton's scheduled league game at Crestview (4-1, 1-1 NWC) last Thursday was postponed to January 5.
The Pirates are slated to host Liberty-Benton Dec. 22 and visit Kenton Dec. 28 in a pair of non-league games to close out the 2020 portion of their schedule.
