Pirate volleyball team swept by Vikings
The visiting Bluffton volleyball team lost a three-setter at state-ranked Leipsic in a Northwest Conference match Tuesday evening.
The Lady Pirate record fell to 10-6 overall and 2-2 this season with the 25-16, 25-17, 25-16 defeat.
Fifth-ranked Leipsic improved to 14-1 overall and 5-1 in the NWC with the victory.
Senior Kylie Stackhouse led Bluffton with 11 kills. Freshman Ayla Grandey knocked down seven kills and made two blocks.
Senior setter Skyler Scoles dished out 14 assists and mustered up five digs.
Senior Kylie Monday hustled up 10 digs. Classmate Sophie Bricker came up with five digs. Olivia Hobensack added one ace.
Leipsic also won the JV match, 2-0.
Bluffton hosts league-leading Lincolnview (10-3, 4-0 NWC) Thursday, Sept. 30. The Lancers have won the last two NWC titles in undefeated fashion, and are riding a 20-match league win streak.
