Hanover shut-out against Bluffton women
The Bluffton University women's soccer team trailed just 1-0 before the floodgates opened in minute 54. Hanover piled up six tallies in a span of just over 30 minutes en route to the 7-0 shutout on Sunday, Oct. 3. Bluffton fell to 4-5 and 1-1 in the Heartland Conference, while the Panthers improved to 7-0-2 and 2-0 in the Heartland Conference.
A Maggie Day score in minute 38 was the only blemish for Bluffton in the opening stanza. Although Hanover had a 15-1 advantage in shots, the Beavers trailed just 1-0 heading into the second frame. The visitors finished with a marked 33-3 edge in shots for the match and they forced all 13 corner kicks on Sunday. Bluffton was whistled for five more fouls (9-4).
Brielle Collier (Anna) and Ashton Curnutte (Urbana) combined on 14 saves for the Beavers.
Bluffton will hit the road for a trip to Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2021. Kickoff in Cincinnati is slated for 7:30 p.m.
