How to become a youth soccer referee
With Spring 2022 youth soccer registration underway, it is also a good time for Bluffton Soccer Club supporters to consider soccer referee training. There are new grassroots soccer referee courses for the region to help address a shortage of referees.
Who can be a referee? To complete the GR First Time Course, referee candidates must be 13 years or older. Admission criteria:
- Introduction to Safe and Healthy Playing Environments – 1 hr.
- SafeSport (if 18 years or older)- 1 hr.
- Online Grassroots Referee Course Module – 4.5 hr.
- First Time Grassroots Referee Quiz - 45 mins.
- U.S. Soccer Federation Gold Standard NCSI Background Check (if 18 years or older)
